It’s with a heavy heart that we have to suspend all our activities from the 14th of July 2023.

Due to Scottish Government funding reductions, Sustrans has been required to make the difficult decision to step back from a number of projects including the Active Travel Hub Ayr. With all Hub staff being Sustrans employees, the officers have been placed at risk of redundancy. While the council explores alternative funding streams, the Active Travel Hub Ayr and its associated services will be suspended.

Leading up to the 14th of July, we will run a limited number of activities.

At this challenging time, we would like to thank all partners, beneficiaries and volunteers for your engagement over the years. It’s been a pleasure to inspire, support and enable our local community to walk, wheel and cycle. Seeing the impact, we have achieved together has been nothing short of outstanding.

While the future of the Hub is being decided, we hope that you will continue to support the active travel agenda. Together let’s make it easier for everyone in South Ayrshire to walk, wheel and cycle.

Active Travel Hub Ayr

At the Active Travel Hub Ayr, we are passionate about active travel in all its forms and recognise the benefits it has to offer to individuals, local communities, and the environment. Our dedicated staff and volunteers promote active and sustainable travel across South Ayrshire. This means encouraging people to walk, cycle, scooter, rollerblade, skateboard, or whatever else they can think of that uses their own body power to get places.

Making more short, everyday journeys by your own body power is great for your mental and physical health, it’s better for the environment than driving and it’s basically free. Triple win!
