Project Officer
I’ve been working at the Hub since 2019 I’m a qualified Walk Leader, Ride Leader, Cycle Trainer and Silver Velotech mechanic. I’m really passionate about helping people learn how to ride, feel confident and learn to love being on their bike. In my own time, I have also attained MTB Trail Leader, Night MTB Trail leader and am working towards my GoMTB accreditation. When I’m not riding my bike at work, I am usually riding my bike outside of work! At the weekends, I coach bikejor (a sleddog sport involving mountain bikes) or I am out mountain biking with my traildog Maisie. I also volunteer at Bike For Good in Glasgow as a bike mechanic to help keep my skills up and when I’m not busy with all that you’ll find me on the couch with my cats.
Project Officer
Hey. My name is Rory MacColl. I have been the Project Officer at the Active Travel Hub in Ayr since 2016. My training qualifications include Cycle Ride Leader, Cycle Trainer, Walk Leader, Velotech Gold Bike Mechanic. Away from work, anyone who knows me, will know that I am a huge rugby fan. I also still play for Marr 3rd XV in Troon and coach Marr Primary 6 age group too. I have been coaching rugby and sport to young people since 1995. I also play golf regularly and I am a massive fan of all types of sport.
Active Travel Hubs Coordinator
I’m an outdoor environmental education specialist with 20 years of experience of working in employment and skills training initiatives and community regeneration projects. I have a background in urban regeneration and have developed and managed projects that connect people with nature and enhance public landscapes, provide vocational training and promote sustainable living. I’ve been working for Sustrans since the summer of 2021 and live on the Isle of Arran where I try hard to mountain bike.
Active Travel Hubs Manager
My name is Nina. I am the new Active Travel Hubs Manager. I started in July 2022 and I am very excited to be supporting and guiding the Hubs team on East and South Ayrshire’s Active Travel Journey. I have 5 years of experience leading and delivering active travel programmes, with a focus on cycling and engagement of those underrepresented in cycling. I achieved my cycle trainer course 5 years ago but now spend more time in front of a computer than on a saddle (professionally). Outside work, you’ll see me on my bike, bikepacking mainly, camping, open water swimming, gardening and now even foraging!
